Common use of Internet Use Clause in Contracts

Internet Use. The EC Party and the Signatory CARIFORUM States accept the need for a clear legal framework for trademark owners who wish to use their trademarks on the Internet and to participate in the development of electronic commerce which includes provisions addressing whether the use of a sign on the Internet has contributed to the acquisition or infringement of a xxxx or whether such use constitutes an act of unfair competition, and a determination of the remedies. In this respect, the EC Party and the Signatory CARIFORUM States shall endeavour to apply the Joint Recommendation concerning the protection of marks, and other industrial property rights in signs, on the Internet, as adopted by WIPO at the Thirty-Sixth Series of Meetings of the Assemblies of the Member States of WIPO, 24 September to 3 October 2001.
