Common use of Layoff Within Unit Clause in Contracts

Layoff Within Unit. Layoff shall be defined as a reduction in work force. In the event the Board, at its discretion, determines that a layoff is necessary, it shall: 1. Meet with the Association to see if any member(s) of the unit is/are interested in reducing their normal eight (8) hour daily work shift. If positions are “job shared”, it must be agreed to by both the Board and the Association. 2. Request volunteers in manner deemed appropriate by the Board. 3. Layoff probationary employees providing current employees are qualified for the position.
