Common use of Lead Hand Clause in Contracts

Lead Hand. A lead hand is a working employee designated by the Company, who is able and willing to direct and instruct others in the performance of their work. The Union will recognize Lead Hands as supervisory assistants. However, Lead Hands shall not have the right to hire, promote, demote, suspend, discharge or lay off bargaining unit employees.

A lead hand is Lead Hand shall be defined as a working employee designated by person who may perform work and direct the Company, who is able and willing to direct and instruct work of others in while performing the performance duties of their worka Lead Hand. The Union will recognize Lead Hands as supervisory assistants. However, Lead Hands He/she shall not have the right authority to hire, promotefire, demotesuspend or otherwise discipline other Employees and he/she shall be a Union member. When the Lead Hands are appointed by the Company a bid will be posted and the Lead Hand will be selected according to qualifications and seniority. However, suspend, discharge or lay off bargaining unit employeesit will be the responsibility of the Company to make the final selection provided that when qualifications are equal the Employee with greater seniority will be given preference.
