LEAVE FOR ELECTIVE OFFICE AND COMMUNITY SERVICE. a. When a teacher is nominated as a candidate and wishes to contest a provincial or federal election, he or she may be given leave of absence, without pay, during the election campaign. Should the teacher be elected as a Member of Parliament or Member of the Legislative Assembly, he/she shall be granted a long-term leave of absence. Such requests shall not unreasonably be denied.
