Educational Leave. Leave without pay may be granted for educational leave for the duration of actual attendance in an educational program.
Educational Leave. Educational leave granted by the Company to regular team members requesting such leave shall be in accordance with the following provisions:
(1) The duration of educational leave granted to regular team members to take advanced or special training which will be of benefit to the team member or the Company may be for varying periods up to one year, which may be renewed by mutual agreement.
(2) In certain cases, educational leave may be approved for programs of independent study and/or research when the criteria for evaluating the team member's performance on such leave can be clearly established and the program can be shown to be of significant benefit to the team member and the Company.
(3) Applications for educational leave for periods of four months or longer must be submitted to the team member's immediate excluded supervisor six months prior to the beginning of the requested leave period.
(4) Applications for leave of periods of less than four months should be submitted to the team member's immediate excluded Supervisor with as much lead time as practical.
(5) If an application for leave is denied, the team member shall be given the reasons in writing by their immediate excluded Supervisor. If a team member wishes to grieve the decision, the grievance shall commence at Step 3 of the grievance procedure.
(6) A team member granted educational leave under this section shall receive up to 100% of their basic salary.
(7) A team member granted educational leave under this section shall be required to sign a statement with a copy to the team member to the effect that, on the completion of the training, they will remain in the employment of the Company for a period equivalent to three times the length of their educational leave multiplied by the percentage of their basic salary received during such leave.
(8) Should they leave the employment of the Company before this period expires, they shall refund to the Company the total cost of their training including allowances and expenses on a pro rata basis.
(9) A team member granted educational leave without pay shall be required to sign a statement to the effect that on completion of the training, they will remain in the employment of the Company for a period equivalent to the leave granted or refund any financial assistance granted under this section on a pro rata basis.

Educational Leave. Leave shall be granted for educational purposes if such education is required by the Appointing Authority.
Educational Leave. A leave of absence without pay may be granted by the Agency/Department Head upon the request of the employee seeking such leave for the purpose of education, but no one such leave of absence shall exceed a period of one year.
Educational Leave. After six months of continuous employment, permission may be granted for leave of absence without pay for up to one year of study, without loss of accrued benefits. An employee shall not incur any reduction in pay when participating in an educational program at the request of the employer.
Educational Leave. Pursuant to applicable provisions of the Civil Service Rules, and subject to the staffing needs of the department, educational leaves will be granted to permanent employees upon presentation of a plan for schooling designed to improve the employee’s value to the County, and evidence of acceptance by an accredited college or university.
Educational Leave. The parties acknowledge that the responsibility for professional development, as it relates to the work of the CCAC, is shared between the employee and the Employer.
(a) The Employer may, at its discretion, grant unpaid educational leave to any employee who wishes to enroll in a post graduate, diploma, certificate or degree course of study relevant to the profession.
(b) A full-time or regular part-time employee may be approved for a leave of absence without loss of pay from her or his regularly scheduled working hours for the purpose of writing any examinations including any Quality Assurance Program required by a Regulatory College or required in any recognized course in which employees are enrolled to upgrade their qualifications as it relates to their employment.
(c) Leave of absence without loss of regular earnings from regularly scheduled hours for the purpose of attending short courses, workshops or seminars related to the employee's employment at the CCAC may be granted at the discretion of the Employer upon written application by the employee. It is understood that any educational seminar for which an employee requests reimbursement for course fees, materials, meals, transportation and accommodation expenses may be reimbursable when approval is authorized beforehand by the Employer.
(d) When an employee is required to attend any in-service or e-learning program during her or his regularly scheduled working hours, the employee shall suffer no loss of regular pay. When an employee is required by the Employer to attend courses or e-learning outside of her or his regularly scheduled working hours, the employee shall be paid at the appropriate rate for all time spent in attendance on such courses or e- learning.
Educational Leave. If required by the Employer, an employee shall be entitled to a leave of absence with pay and without loss of seniority and benefits to upgrade his or her employment qualifications. Where employees are required by the Employer to take courses to upgrade or acquire new employment qualifications, the Employer shall pay the full cost associated with the courses. The Administrator shall grant a request for unpaid leave of absence to upgrade employment qualifications, provided that she receives at least one (1) month's notice in writing unless impossible and provided that such a leave may be arranged without inconvenience to the normal operations of the Nursing Home. Applicants, when applying, must indicate the date of departure and specific date of return.
Educational Leave. (a) For the purpose of determining salary increments, an Employee who is granted leave of absence for educational purposes, subject to the conditions provided in Article 27.01, shall be deemed to remain in the continuous service of the Employer for the first (1st) twenty (20) months of such period of leave.
(b) During an Employee’s educational leave, subject to Article 27.01(a) they may work as a Casual Employee with the Employer without adversely affecting their reinstatement to the position from which they are on leave.
