Common use of Leave for Union and Other Purposes Clause in Contracts

Leave for Union and Other Purposes. An employee who is appointed or elected to a full-time position with the International Association of Firefighters or British Columbia Professional Firefighters’ Association, or if accepted to an institute of learning under labour sponsorship, shall, if they so request in writing, be granted leave of absence without pay and without loss of seniority for a period not exceeding one (1) year. Such leave may be granted or renewed by mutual agreement between the City and the Association, subject to Departmental operational requirements.
