Leave to Attend Meetings. 18.1 The employer shall grant paid leave (at ordinary rates) to Employees required to attend formal meetings of the New Zealand Nursing Council or the Midwifery Council (except where the matter arises out of employment with other employers, the NZNO Board, Runanga O Aotearoa and the Membership Committee providing a minimum of 6 weeks notice is provided to meet rostering provisions. Attendance at the Membership Committee will be up to 6 meetings per year and that no more than one employee from any one individual DHB will attend. Approval will be obtained from the employee’s manager which will not be unreasonably withheld. 18.2 Paid leave shall also be granted where an Employee is required to attend meetings of Boards or Statutory Committees provided that the appointment to the Board or Committee is by ministerial appointment. 18.3 Any remuneration received by the Employee for the period that paid leave was granted shall be paid to the Employer.
