Common use of Length of Contractual Year Clause in Contracts

Length of Contractual Year. ‌ The length of the regular contractual year shall be no more than one hundred eighty-six (186) days, including the following six (6) days during which students are not in attendance: 1. One (1) day between August 1 and the opening of school to be scheduled and used by bargaining unit members for planning and preparation. 2. One (1) day before the opening of school to be used for convocation and professional development. 3. Three (3) days with one (1) day at the end of each of the first, second and third quarters to be used ½ day for professional development and ½ day for bargaining unit members to use for planning and preparation. 4. One (1) day to be used for professional development. A bargaining unit member new to the District during his/her initial employment year shall have a contractual year of one hundred eighty-seven (187) days. The additional day shall occur before the regular school year begins.
