Common use of Length of Pregnancy Leave and Parental Leave Clause in Contracts

Length of Pregnancy Leave and Parental Leave. Pregnancy leave may be taken up to a total of seventeen (17) weeks inclusive either before and/or after the birth of a child. Parental leave of up to sixty-one (61) weeks may be taken during a period not exceeding seventy-eight (78) weeks after the birth or adoption of a child. Where a doctor's certificate is provided, stating that a longer period of pregnancy leave is required for health reasons, an extension up to a maximum of one (1) additional year shall be allowed.
