Maintenance of Inclusion Adjunct Faculty. An adjunct faculty member who qualifies for initial bargaining unit inclusion but who subsequently fails to meet the eligibility criteria set forth in Article 2.1 shall remain a member of the bargaining unit for two consecutive semesters, excluding the summer term, in which the member provides no instructional services. Failure to satisfy the eligibility criteria in Article 2.1 for the third consecutive academic semester, excluding the summer term, will result in removal from the bargaining unit. An adjunct librarian/counselor who qualifies for initial bargaining unit inclusion but who subsequently fails to meet the eligibility criteria set forth in Article 2.1 because he/she was unable to accept an assignment due to an extended and medically documented disability, or does not work due to other valid and justifiable reasons acceptable to the College, shall remain a member of the bargaining unit for two consecutive semesters, excluding the summer term, in which the member is not assigned to work a minimum of one hundred sixty (160) hours per semester. In such event, the College shall make a reasonable effort to assign an adjunct librarian/counselor with at least a one hundred sixty (160) hour assignment, for the current semester. Failure to satisfy the eligibility criteria in Article 2.1 for the third consecutive academic semester, excluding the summer term, will result in removal from the bargaining unit.
