Common use of Medical, Dental & Vision Benefits – LWOP or Unpaid Absence Clause in Contracts

Medical, Dental & Vision Benefits – LWOP or Unpaid Absence. If an employee is on an unpaid absence or goes on leave without pay, either of which reduces the employee’s time in pay status to less than 50% of the employee’s allocated full-time equivalent position in a pay period, the County will cease to pay its normal benefit contributions. The employee must pay the total health plan premium(s), if the employee desires to continue any coverage. If an employee is on an unpaid absence or goes on leave without pay, either of which reduces the employee’s time in pay status to not less than 50% of the employee’s regular schedule in a pay period, the County will continue to pay its normal benefit contributions.
