Common use of Moving of Household Effects and Chattels Clause in Contracts

Moving of Household Effects and Chattels. On relocation, the Employer shall arrange and pay for the following: (a) moving of household effects and chattel up to 8,165 kg. including any item(s) which the contracted mover will accept as part of a load which includes household appliances and furniture, hobbies, boats, outboard motors and pianos; (b) comprehensive insurance to adequately protect the employee's household effects and chattels during the move up to a maximum of twenty-five thousand dollars ($25,000); (c) where necessary, insured storage up to two (2) months, upon production of receipts; (d) the packing and unpacking of the employee's household effects and chattels; (e) when an employee is being relocated and opts to move his/her own household effects and chattels, the employee shall receive one of the following allowances: (1) three hundred dollars ($300) for a move not exceeding a distance of two hundred forty (240) kilometres; (2) six hundred dollars ($600) for a move which exceeds a distance of two hundred forty (240) kilometres; (3) one hundred and twenty-five dollars ($125) where the employee is entitled to receive the amount pursuant to Section 2.7(d). (f) Where the employee exercises an option pursuant to (e) above then the provisions of (a) and (d) above shall not apply.
