Employee Initiated. Employee requested cancellations of scheduled vacation leave must be submitted in writing and is subject to prior approval by the Employer.
Employee Initiated. At the discretion of the department head and/or delegated authority, nurses may be allowed to participate in non-assigned programs to meet specific training and development needs. Participation in these programs must be beneficial to both the organization and the nurse.
Employee Initiated. Job Site Transfer When a new position is created or an existing position becomes vacant, the District shall give consideration to employees in the District serving in the same class. Any employee may apply for transfer to that position by filing a written notice with the Personnel Department.
Employee Initiated. Relocation expenses in this section (2) will apply to employees who have to move from one headquarters or geographic location to another (except for moves within the Lower Mainland region) after completing their probation/trial period and after winning an in-service competition where the position is permanently located at another headquarters or geographic location and where the move is as a result of the employee making a lateral move or a move to a lower pay grade.
Employee Initiated. The Employer agrees that an Employee may request in writing to their Department Head a transfer from one reporting location to another for purposes that are reasonable and justified. Transfer requests are limited to one (1) per twelve (12) month period and are restricted to work areas under the jurisdiction of their particular Department Head. The Employee requesting the transfer must be able to perform the work required in the work area into which they wish to be transferred. Such a transfer shall be initiated upon a vacancy arising at the reporting location to which the Employee wishes to transfer. In the event that more than one Employee requests or has requested a transfer to the same reporting location, transfer requests will be honoured in the order in which they were submitted. Transfer requests will be honoured prior to the posting of any permanent vacancy. Notwithstanding the foregoing, transfers will only be allowed to the extent to which operational requirements permit. The Employee shall retain a copy of each transfer request and a copy shall be forwarded to the Union upon submission of the request. The Employee shall complete the transfer form in Appendix “H” and forward as per the instructions on the form.
Employee Initiated. 22 An employee moved at his/her request from a classification of higher pay to 23 a classification of lower pay will be placed at the salary commensurate with 24 his/her service with the District provided such placement does not exceed 25 the salary the employee had been receiving in the higher classification.
Employee Initiated. Included in the initial notice will be information about the Rapid Adjudication process. Within five (5) days of receiving the initial notice under 3.6.A, the employee may request starting Rapid Adjudication. The OPA (in consultation with the Chief or designee) will have ten (10) days to determine whether the case is appropriate for Rapid Adjudication and if so, to provide a recommendation for discipline or a range of discipline to the Chief (or designee). If the Chief (or designee) accepts the recommendation for Rapid Adjudication and the discipline or range of discipline recommended, then OPA will inform the employee (the “Acceptance Notice”) and the 30-day period for submittal of the classification report and the 180-day period for investigation will be tolled upon notice to the employee. If the discipline involves suspension, the range of proposed discipline shall be a variance of no more than three (3) days. The employee shall have five (5) days to accept the discipline or range of discipline. If the offer is not accepted by the employee, the matter will be returned to OPA for investigation, with the 30 and 180-day timelines re-started at that time. If accepted, the employee’s acceptance shall close the case. In cases where a range of discipline has been offered, the employee may request to meet with the Chief to provide him/her with information that the employee would like the Chief to consider in making a final determination on the amount of discipline within the range. The employee may have a Guild Rep at any such meeting.

(a) Expenses on Relocation Under 2.1:
(b) On relocation under Section 2 of this article, the Employer will pay for the following:
(1) Moving of household effects and chattels up to 8,165 kg including any item(s) which the contracted mover will accept as part of a load which includes household appliances and furniture, hobbies, boats, outboard motors and pianos.
(2) The employee shall obtain three written cost estimates of the expenses under (a) and shall obtain approval from the Employer before choosing a mover. The moving company will invoice the Employer directly.
(3) It shall be the responsibility of the employee to make moving arrangements for relocation under this section.
(4) Under no circumstances shall the Employer reimburse any one employee more than $1,500 per 24 months under this clause. agree on an arbitrator, either party may make an application for the appointment of an arbitrator pursuant to the Labour Relations Code.
Employee Initiated. An employee shall complete a Professional Development Form to request to take a course, or attend some other educational event. The Director or designate may approve reimbursement of the cost of the course, upon proof of successful completion if appropriate, or a portion thereof, and may approve leave from work, with or without pay or with a portion thereof.
Employee Initiated. Where an employee requests attendance at any course or workshop, the Employer may grant leave for such purpose. The employee shall not have any loss of pay, and the Employer shall pay all costs of instruction and instructional materials or a portion thereof. The Employer may also grant additional expenses incurred by the employee.
