Common use of Municipal and School Board Offices Clause in Contracts

Municipal and School Board Offices. (1) Employees may seek election to municipal and school board offices, provided that: (i) the duties of the municipal or school board office other than regular council or board meetings do not impinge on normal working hours; (ii) there is no conflict of interest between the duties of the municipal or school board office and the duties of the employee’s position. (2) Where the Municipal Council, the School Board or committees of the Council or Board hold meetings during the employee's normal working hours, the Employer shall grant leave without pay to attend such meetings. (3) Where leave without pay is granted to attend committee meetings, such leave shall be in accordance with Clause 20.10, and provided that such leave shall not exceed one-half shift per week. (4) The employee shall provide at least one week's written notice to the Employer.
