Non-Student Contact Days. The school calendar shall provide for at least eight (8) non-student-contact days per school year. These days shall be designated as follows: 1 orientation day for faculty at the beginning of each school year (1 class preparation day for the school year 20-21, and beginning the school year 21-22 there will be 2 class preparation days at the beginning of the first semester to be meeting free) 1 class preparation day at the beginning of the first semester to be meeting free and 1 class preparation/grading day at the beginning of the second semester to be meeting free. Teachers will not have to provide final grades to administration before the end of that preparation/grading day. 1 end of year workday 4 in-service training days (which shall include a minimum of eight (8) hours total for school improvement work) 1 class preparation/grading day immediately before 1st semester parent/teacher conference to be meeting free. 1 class preparation/grading day immediately before 3rd quarter reports are due to be meeting free. In the event of more than four snow days, the scheduled work day at the end of the 3rd quarter may be changed to a student contact day. Additional non-student-contact days for special education staff, excluding Autism Consultant, LINCS, Transition Coordinator, School Psychologists, SLPs and OTs, will be provided in the form of 2 days per school year for the purpose of paperwork pertaining to Individual Education Plans to be meeting free. Each special education staff member will be free to choose the day according to the planning needs for the Individual Education Plans included on their caseload. These days may not carry over from year to year. The content of in-service training days will be determined by the Board of Education and the Professional Development Council (PDC) in accordance with the Academic Calendar and will meet Kansas state instructional day/time requirements (K.S.A. 72-1106). At least one teacher on each PDC will be named by the LEA. Names will be provided to the superintendent by September 1st annually.
