NUMBER OF GAS STATIONS Sample Clauses

NUMBER OF GAS STATIONS. The numbers of public, independent gas stations where pure Biodiesel was offered grew rapidly between 1991, when 200 gas stations were counted, and 2006 with 1.900 gas stations offering B100 in Germany (UFOP, 2002; AGQM, 2006a, 2006b). The 251 gas stations from 1994 taken as a baseline, the enhancement to 2006 is 657%. Nowadays gas stations can be found online, e.g. on the UFOP website (UFOP, 2007b). The graph below visualizes the development. In 2005 and 2006 about 1.900 independent gas stations offered B100. As it has been legally confirmed in 2004, Biodiesel (produced according to EN 14214) can be added up to 5% (B5) without declaration to normal, fossil diesel. In 2004, Aral and Shell started to sell B5. In 2006, according to experts, about 75% of the public gas stations – of the big oil companies – in Germany sold B5. In 2006, 13 Biodiesel producers, 22 merchandising concerns and 12 other companies are AGQM members. 1276 gas stations are AGQM -certified, shown by the AGQM- logo at the petrol pumps (see below). Certified gas stations follow the AGQM- guidelines, which are at some points severer than EN 14214, e.g. the date for starting to sell winter Biodiesel (Biodiesel with additives in order to stand low or minus degrees Celsius) is four weeks earlier than given in EN 14214 (AGQM, 2007). All AGQM certified public independent gas stations can today be found online as well (UFOP, 2007b).
