OUT OF RANK PAY. β Employees of the Middletown Fire Department covered by this Agreement who perform the duties of higher rank, shall be compensated at the same rate as the member for whom they are filling in, provided such service is for a period of one (1) full working shift or longer. Such higher rate shall apply for all time spent in the performance of such duties. In any case where a fire fighter performs the duties of any rank above that of Lieutenant, he or she shall be compensated at the rate paid a Lieutenant.
