Common use of Overtime and Stand-by Time Clause in Contracts

Overtime and Stand-by Time. The City Manager, or his/her designee, the Department Head or a Division Head may from time-to-time require an employee to work overtime; or to stand-by at home to be available in the event of an emergency; or when off duty to respond to a call back to work because of an emergency. Every employee shall be compensated as follows for such work (except overtime on holidays shall be compensated for as provided in Article 5(c).
