Overtime Pay/Compensatory Time Pay and Accruals. Overtime pay provided in this Article is at the rate of time and one-half (1 ½) and shall be made in compensatory time off or overtime cash payment at the discretion of the employee and approval of the department head based on financial or operational needs. Compensatory time off should be used in the following 90 days, but may be accumulated to a maximum of 200 hours. All requests to use compensatory time must be approved at least 24 hours in advance of the time off in accordance with department policy, except in cases of emergency as determined by the department head or designee. An emergency shall not include absences for which sick leave is to be used as defined in Article 24, Section 1, unless all sick leave has been exhausted.
