HOLIDAY COMPENSATION FOR TIME WORKED. 259. Employees required by their respective appointing officers to work on any of the above designated or observed holidays, excepting Fridays observed as holidays in lieu of holidays falling on Saturday, shall be paid extra compensation of one additional day's pay at time- and-one-half the usual rate (i.e. 12 hours pay for 8 hours worked) or a proportionate amount for less than 8 hours worked. At the employee's request and with the approval of the appointing officer, an employee may be granted compensatory time off in lieu of paid overtime pursuant to the provisions herein. 260. Executive, administrative and professional employees designated in the Annual Salary Ordinance with the "Z" symbol shall not receive extra compensation for holiday work but may be granted time off equivalent to the time worked at the rate of one-and-one-half times for work on the holiday.

HOLIDAYS FOR EMPLOYEES ON WORK SCHEDULES OTHER THAN MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY 149. Employees assigned to seven-day operation departments or employees working a five-day work week other than Monday through Friday shall be allowed another day off if a holiday falls on one of their regularly scheduled days off. Employees whose holidays are changed because of shift rotations shall be allowed another day off if a legal holiday falls on one of their days off. Employees regularly scheduled to work on a holiday which falls on a Saturday or Sunday shall observe the holiday on the day it occurs, or if required to work shall receive holiday compensation for work on that day. Holiday compensation shall not be paid for work on the Friday preceding a Saturday holiday nor on the Monday following a Sunday holiday.

From June 30, 2009 through September 6, 2010, non-“Z” employees will continue to be eligible to earn holiday pay (HP) at the one-and-one-half time rate if they work on the holiday, but will not earn legal holiday compensation (LH) for the aforementioned unpaid legal holidays. 452. Ten (10) and twelve (12) hour employees shall receive full holiday compensation for the regularly scheduled shift worked on a holiday. 453. No designated "Z" employee shall receive overtime pay for working on a holiday. All such overtime shall be compensated in the form of compensatory time accrued. Provided however that “Z” employees may, at the end of each fiscal year, choose to receive a cash payment in lieu of accrued compensatory time for each holiday worked during the fiscal year.

P-103 per diem registered nurses shall not earn entitlement for the legal holiday. 375. Ten (10) and twelve (12) hour shift employees shall receive full holiday compensation for the regularly scheduled shift worked on a holiday. 376. Executive, administrative and professional employees designated in the Annual Salary Ordinance with the "Z" symbol shall not receive extra compensation for holiday work but may be granted time off equivalent to the time worked at the rate of one and one-half times for work on the holiday.
