Common use of Political Service Leave Clause in Contracts

Political Service Leave. Upon written request, the Company will grant employees unpaid leave of absence to serve as an elected member of the Provincial Legislature, or the Parliament of Canada, on the following conditions: (a) Written request will be forwarded at least two (2) weeks in advance of the date of leave is to commence; (b) Employees on political service leave will not accumulate seniority, and upon returning to the Company their seniority date will be adjusted accordingly; (c) Employees on political service leave will notify the Company in writing on their intention to return to the employment of the Company at least two (2) weeks prior to the date of employment with the Company is to recommence; (d) Employees on political service leave will not receive coverage under the Company’s benefit plans.
