MEMBERSHIP, FEES AND PAYROLL DEDUCTIONS. A. Any teacher employed by the Board may submit to the Board an assignment card signed by the employee not later than thirty (30) days after the commencement of his/her employment for the purpose of authorizing the deductions of membership dues of the county, Michigan and National Education Association. The total amount to be deducted shall be stated on said authorization card. The deductions shall be made in equal installments from each paycheck beginning in September and continuing through May. Payroll deductions of dues shall cease upon termination of said teacher's employment. Only one application per teacher for deductions need be honored by the Board in any one school year.
B. The Association shall, by October 1st of each school year, and at least seven business days prior to the payroll in which the deductions are to begin, give written notification to the Superintendent's Office of the amount of its dues and those of the MEA and NEA which are to be deducted in that school year under such authorization. The amounts of the deductions for these dues shall not be subject to change during the entire school year except that employees hired during the second semester shall have their dues reduced according to the regulations of the Association. For the purpose of this Article, the term "school year" shall mean the twelve-month period beginning with the opening of school in the fall of each year. These amounts to be deducted shall be forwarded to the Association, provided that when a teacher objects to the appropriate amount of the representation service fee as herein specified, the amount of the deduction contested shall not be deducted by the Employer until a determination as to the appropriate amount of the deduction has been determined, through Association policy and procedure. Once the determination has been made, the entire fee for the year shall be deducted from the remaining pays.
C. Any bargaining unit member who is not a member of the Association in good standing or who does not make application for membership within thirty (30) days from the first day of active employment shall as a condition of employment, pay a service fee to the Association, pursuant to the Association's "Policy Regarding Objections to Political-Ideological Expenditures" and the Association's Administrative Procedures adopted pursuant to that policy. MEMBERSHIP, FEES AND PAYROLL DEDUCTIONS. A. All employees who are presently working under this Agreement shall not be required to become members of this Union, and all new employees hired during the term of this Agreement shall not be required to become members of the Union, but shall make payments to the Union in the same manner as Union members and shall do the above as a condition of employment. These provisions do not apply to temporary employees.
B. During the term of this Agreement the Board will honor written assignments of wages to the Union for the payment of Union dues, representation fees, and voluntary C.O.P.E. deductions. Such written assignments shall be in a form consistent with the laws of the State of Michigan and this Agreement.
C. The Union shall notify the Executive Budget Director in writing of the amount of such membership dues, representation fees, and voluntary C.O.P.E. deductions. The Board will cause such dues, representation fees, and voluntary C.O.P.E. deductions to be remitted promptly to the Union together with a written statement of the names of the employees for whom such deductions were made. Normally, deductions will be made on the last pay period of each month. In case of an error in such deductions, the Union will make proper adjustments of such errors with the employees concerned.
D. All employees presently employed by the Board of Education shall make the above payment to the Union on the first full pay period after the ratification of the contract by the members and the Board. All new employees hired during the term of this Agreement shall make the above payments to the Union after thirty (30) days of employment with the Board of Education.
E. The Board shall provide each new employee hired, at the time of hiring, an assignment of wages form for payment to the Union of membership dues or representation fees, and voluntary C.O.P.E. deductions. Assignment of wages forms will be furnished to the Board by the Union. The Board shall inform each new employee hired, at the time of hiring, that failure to begin payment of Union dues or representation fees after the completion of her/his thirtieth (30th) day of employment will result in the commencement of termination procedures against such employee upon written Union notification to the Office of Human Resources/Legal Affairs.
F. On or before the tenth (10th) of each month, the Board shall inform the Union, in writing, of all new employees hired and employees returning from a leave of absence in the preceding month...
MEMBERSHIP, FEES AND PAYROLL DEDUCTIONS. A. Any employee who is a member of CCEA, or who has applied for membership, may sign and deliver to the District, an assignment authorizing deduction of professional dues in the Association (including NEA-NM and NEA), as established in writing by the Association. Any authorization, including those currently in effect, shall remain, unless revoked by the employee in writing. The District shall be notified in writing of Association dues that are set by August 1st on official Association letterhead and signed by the President for the upcoming school year. No changes to the deduction amounts will occur after that date. The District shall deduct such dues in semimonthly installments during the school year and remit to CCEA all money so deducted within ten (10) workdays.
B. All information for members who have requested payroll deductions after the first pay period will be reported to the Business Office, and payroll deduction will begin at the next reasonable payroll writing after the receipt of deduction forms signed by the employee. Deductions of dues may be discontinued or revoked by a CCEA member by submitting a written notice of discontinuance to the Treasurer of the Association or the Association President. The Treasurer or the Association President will notify Payroll of this change within ten (10) workdays.
C. Upon written authorization from employees and as long as a minimum of twenty (20) employees sign up, the District shall allow payroll deductions for professional dues in the Association.
D. The Association agrees to render the District harmless for any actions resulting from compliance with this provision of the Agreement and assumes total responsibility for the disposition of the funds so deducted once those funds have been received by the Treasurer of the Association.
MEMBERSHIP, FEES AND PAYROLL DEDUCTIONS. A. Any Association members may sign and deliver to the Board an assignment authorizing deduction of membership dues and assessments of the Association and such authorization shall continue in effect from year to year unless revoked in writing between June 1 and September 1. United (MEA, NEA, and local) Association professional dues shall be deducted by the Board in twenty (20) equal installments, beginning with the first regular pay period for each school year and continuing until the full amount of dues for the United Profession have been collected.
B. Payroll deduction plans will be considered and implemented by mutual agreement.
C.1. All bargaining unit member employees prior to 2000-2001 are exempt from the obligation of paying a service fee. All bargaining unit members employed as new bargaining unit members beginning with 2000-2001 will be required, as a condition of employment, to (1) join the Association or (2) pay a service fee pursuant to the Association’s “Policy Regarding Objections to Political-Ideological Expenditures” and the Administrative Procedures adopted pursuant to that policy. The service fee shall not exceed the amount of Association dues collected from Association members. The bargaining unit member may authorize payroll deduction for such fee in the same manner as provided in paragraph A. In the event the bargaining unit member shall not pay such service fee directly to the Association or authorize payment through payroll deduction, the Employer shall, pursuant to MCLA 408.477, MSA 17.277(7) and at the request of the Association, deduct the service fee from the bargaining unit member’s wages and remit same to the Association under the procedure below. Payroll deductions made pursuant to this provision shall be made in equal amounts, as nearly as may be, from the paychecks of each bargaining unit member. Moneys so deducted shall be remitted to the Association, or its designee, no later than twenty (20) days following deduction.
MEMBERSHIP, FEES AND PAYROLL DEDUCTIONS. A. The Board agrees promptly to advise the Association of all additions, deletions, or change in status of members of the bargaining unit.
B. The Board shall also make payroll deduction upon written authorization from teachers for deductions as listed in Appendix D.
C. The Association shall indemnify and hold the Board harmless against any and all claims or liabilities, including unemployment compensation, court costs and attorney fees that arise out of the Employer’s compliance with the provisions of this Article.
MEMBERSHIP, FEES AND PAYROLL DEDUCTIONS. 4.1 Any teacher who is a member, or who has applied for membership, may sign and deliver to the Board an assignment authorizing deductions of membership dues in the United Profession (W-WEA, MEA and NEA). Such written authorization shall continue in effect from year to year unless revoked in writing between June 1 and September 1 of any year. Pursuant to such authorization, the Board shall deduct such dues in equal biweekly installments from the regular salary of each teacher.
MEMBERSHIP, FEES AND PAYROLL DEDUCTIONS. 5.1 All teachers, as a condition of employment, shall either:
a. Sign and deliver to the Board an assignment authorizing deductions of membership dues and assessments of the Association (including Michigan, National, and Western Upper Peninsula Education Associations), and such authorization shall continue in effect from year to year, unless revoked in writing between June 1 and September 1 of a given year; or
b. Within thirty (30) days of the commencement of employment, cause to be paid to the Association either by authorizing payroll deduction or in cash a representation fee equivalent to the dues and assessments of the Association (including the Michigan, National, and Western Upper Peninsula Education Associations). In the event the representation fee shall not be paid, the Board, upon request from the Association, shall deduct a lawfully established representation service fee.
5.2 The Association agrees to indemnify and hold the Board, including each individual school board member, harmless against any and all claims, demands, costs, suits, damages, awards, judgments or other forms of liability including, but not limited to back pay damages and all court or administrative agency costs that may arise out of or by reason of any action taken by the Board for the purpose of complying with this article. It is specifically and expressly agreed that any payment for these specified reasons shall be made directly from the Association to the demanding party and at no time shall the Board be obligated to pay out any moneys for any reasons associated with the provisions of this article. In the event of any legal action against the Board brought in a court or administrative agency because of its compliance with this article, the Association agrees to defend such action, at its own expense and through its own counsel, provided:
a. The Board gives timely notice of such action to the Association and permits the Association intervention as a party if it so desires; and
b. The Board gives full and complete cooperation to the Association and its counsel in securing and giving evidence, obtaining witnesses, and making relevant information available at both trial and appellate levels.

MEMBERSHIP, FEES AND PAYROLL DEDUCTIONS. A. All employees shall, as a condition of continued employment with the Board:
1. Maintain membership in the Congress, or
2. Pay a service fee equal in amount to the cost of collective bargaining, contract administration and grievance adjustments. Said amount shall be verified and submitted in writing to the Business Office of the Board.
B. Any employee now employed by the Board or hereinafter employed by the Board who shall be, or become an employee , shall, within sixty (60) days from the date of execution of the Agreement, or within sixty (60) days after the date of the indemnity hereinafter mentioned is received and approved by the Board, or within sixty (60) days of his/her employment, whichever event is later in point of time, make application to the Congress for membership, or pay a service fee as provided for in provision A(2) of this Article.
C. Any employee may sign and deliver to the Board an assignment authorizing the deduction of said membership dues or service fees. All such assignments shall remain in effect from year to year unless employment by the Board is discontinued or until revoked in writing between August 1 and September 14 of any subsequent year.
D. Upon presentation of the assignment to the Business Office of the Board, deductions shall be made for dues or service fees in ten (10) equal installments beginning in September and continuing through June, except that:
1. Deductions for employees employed after September 15 of any school year shall be based on the employment date. If such employee begins work on or before the 15th of the month, the employee will have that month’s dues deducted. Such employees beginning after the 15th of the month shall be exempt from that month’s deduction.
2. Any dues or fees erroneously deducted by the Board and transmitted to the Congress shall be refunded to the Board.
3. If an employee after all other authorized or mandatory deductions or garnishments, shall not have sufficient funds due him/her to provide for the payment of said dues or service fees, no sums shall be deducted, and the Congress shall assume the duty of direct collection from the employee. The Congress shall assume the same responsibility in all cases where no deductions have been made because an employee’s earnings are insufficient during any pay period to pay such dues or service fees.
