Common use of Pre-Placement Adoption Leave Clause in Contracts

Pre-Placement Adoption Leave. ‌ (a) Upon request and with appropriate documentation, an employee is entitled to pre-adoption leave without pay of up to seven weeks (245 work hours) per calendar year with an allowance of 85% of their basic pay during the leave period. (b) The leave may be taken intermittently and only for the purpose of: (1) attending mandatory pre-placement visits with the prospective adoptive child; (2) to complete the legal process required by the child's or children's country for an international adoption while the employee is in the country.
