Prescription or Over-the-Counter Medications. A. Employees taking over-the-counter medications, which may impair or have been found to impair one’s ability to perform their essential functions in a safe and effective manner, will notify their supervisor of the fact that they are taking the medication and the side effects of that medication. B. Employees taking prescription medications, which may, in the opinion of the employee’s medical practitioner, impair their ability to perform their essential function in a safe and effective manner, must notify their Program Manager or Director of the fact that they are taking the medication prior to their next scheduled shift and provide a release to work from the prescribing practitioner. The employee will provide medical verification of the prescription and the side effects of the medication, if requested by the employer.
