Procedures for Reducing Staff. a. When a reduction in the number of teachers employed is necessary, the teachers to be retained on staff shall be those who have the greatest seniority, provided that they possess the necessary qualifications for the positions available. b. The Board shall give each teacher it intends to terminate pursuant to this Agreement at least 30 working days' notice in writing, such notice to be effective at the end of a school term, and to contain the reason for the termination. The Board shall concurrently forward a copy of such notice to the Union. c. The terms "seniority" and "qualifications" shall be interpreted as defined in C.2.7 and C.20.3 respectively.
