Related Experience. Teachers with experience outside teaching in a field or fields closely related to the main subjects of their courses may be credited with not more than three (3) years' experience in addition to those recognized for teaching experience, but in no case shall their salary exceed the maximum of the category on which they are paid. The Superintendent shall evaluate such experience.
Related Experience. At the sole discretion of the employer, years of experience in an occupation or occupations closely related to an employee’s main duties may be recognized for placing an educational assistant on the educational assistant salary grid, a remedial tutor on the remedial tutor salary grid, or an aboriginal language teacher on the aboriginal language teacher salary grid.
Related Experience. 10.01 For each year of recognized related business and/or industrial experience beyond the basic requirement for entrance to a Faculty of Education, the credit shall be one (1) year on the grid with the salary not to exceed grid maximum.
Related Experience a. Full credit shall be granted on the salary scale up to a maximum of four (4) increments for related experience in commerce or dietetics for teachers of commerce or home economics.
b. Experience in commerce shall be recognized by granting one (1) increment for each year of continuous employment in that field:
i. After receiving a Bachelor of Commerce degree from a recognized university or after registration with the appropriate statutory authority as a Chartered Accountant, Certified General Accountant, or Registered Industrial Accountant.
ii. For secretarial experience acceptable to the Board.
c. Experience in dietetics shall be granted to those teachers having one
(1) or more years of continuous employment as a dietitian after receiving a degree in dietetics from a recognized university.
d. Employment as a certificated Early Childhood Educator (E.C.E.) or qualified Speech/Language Pathologist in a licensed pre-school or licensed, non-infant, non-family daycare shall be granted if such experience is related to the assignment of the employee concerned at the time of hiring, up to a maximum credit of four (4) years.
Related Experience. 3.6.1 A committee shall be established consisting of an equal number of representatives of the board of education and of the teachers employed by that board. The committee shall consider any application for recognition of related experience of a teaching nature other than that recognized in Clause 3.4, or related experience of a non- teaching nature in the field in which the teacher will teach, as either wholly or partially equivalent to teaching service for incremental credit. The decision of the committee shall serve as a recommendation to the board of education. Provided that experience credited for teacher certification shall not be recognized for incremental purposes.
3.6.2 A teacher who had incremental credit for related experience on August 31, 2010 shall retain such incremental credit as long as the teacher remains in the employ of the same board of education. Similarly, a teacher who commences employment with the board of education on or after September 1, 2010 and is granted credit for related experience under the provisions of this Clause shall retain such incremental credit as long as the teacher remains in the employ of the same board.
Related Experience a. Experience credit shall be earned for:
i. secondment to the Association;
ii. secondment to the B.C. Teachers’ Federation and Canadian Teachers’ Federation in an educational capacity;
iii. service as a member of the faculty of a recognized university or college, or the Ministry of Education;
iv. absence while on approved educational leave from the Board up to a maximum of one (1) year;
v. absence under Article G.20 (Xxxx Leave); and
vi. absence under Article G.30.2 (Maternity Leave).
b. Where a teacher can show proof at the time of hiring of satisfactory service or employment directly related to or necessary for the teaching position applied for, salary increments (up to a maximum of five (5) increments) shall be granted for each year of trade, technical, or work experience that is appropriate to their teaching function. It is understood that full or partial credit may be granted for such service or experience, depending on the appropriateness of the service or experience to their teaching function.
Related Experience a) Teachers who have University or Community College teaching experience and who held full elementary qualification while the experience was acquired shall receive recognition on the grid for this experience in accordance with b).
b) Recognition for such experience must be applied for within one (1) year from the first day worked after being hired, and supported by documentation from the former employer(s).
c) Related trade and/or technical experience shall be equated to teaching experience for purposes of the grid as follows: Related Experience Experience on Grid Number of Years Number of Years 3 2 4 3 6 4 7 5 8 5 d) Related trade and/or technical experience shall be based on the number of years in a trade, to a maximum of eight (8), subsequent to Ministry of Education minimum requirements.
Related Experience. 3.6.1 A committee shall be established consisting of an equal number of representatives of the board of education and of the teachers employed by that board. The committee shall consider any application for recognition of related experience of a teaching nature other than that recognized in Clause 3.4, or related experience of a non-teaching nature in the field in which the teacher will teach, as either wholly or partially equivalent to teaching service for incremental credit. The decision of the committee shall serve as a recommendation to the board of education. Provided that experience credited for teacher certification shall not be recognized for incremental purposes.
3.6.2 A teacher who had incremental credit for related experience on August 31, 2013 shall retain such incremental credit as long as the teacher remains in the employ of the same board of education. Similarly, a teacher who commences employment with the board of education on or after September 1, 2013 and is granted credit for related experience under the previous provisions of this Clause shall retain such incremental credit in subsequent boards of education provided there is written evidence of the initial board to grant related experience.
Related Experience. Where appropriate, one (1) year of College level experience shall be credited for every two (2) years of the following relevant experience:
1. full-time high school teaching
2. business, commercial, or government employment 3. part-time college teaching, including work as a graduate assistant
