Process for Appealing Career-Progress Decisions. 18.8.1 Academic staff members may appeal career-progress decisions using the process described in this Article (18.8). In unusual circumstances and with the agreement of the member, the College and the Faculty Association, the Appeal Process may be bypassed and the case handled instead through the Arbitration Process described in Article 18.8.8. Career-progress decisions cannot be grieved. Nor can an Arbitration Board convened for other reasons rule on related career-progress decisions. An Arbitration Board shall however have the power to require that the College and the member follow the procedures set out in this agreement pertaining to career-progress decisions.

For appeals of merit decisions, the appeal will be addressed and responded to by the Chair of the Campus Merit Committee. In unusual circumstances and with the agreement of the member, the University and the Faculty Association, the Appeal Process may be bypassed and the case handled instead through the Arbitration Process described in Article 18.8.8. Career-progress decisions cannot be grieved. Nor can an Arbitration Board convened for other reasons rule on related career-progress decisions. An Arbitration Board shall however have the power to require that the University and the member follow the procedures set out in this agreement pertaining to career-progress decisions.
