Professional and Career Development. (a) SMS recognizes the need to provide employees with the opportunity for professional and career development. Applications for professional development leave will not be unreasonably refused. (b) SMS shall provide professional development leave to meet SMS operational requirements and the employee’s development needs. Such leave may be initiated by either the employee or SMS. (c) SMS shall schedule the annual professional development day to align with the BC province-wide professional development day in the fall.
