Professional Development Activities. Professional development activities are activities initiated by individual faculty members or groups of faculty members and may include attendance at conferences, workshops or seminars which facilitate the following: a) maintenance and enhancement of skills and knowledge as approved by the faculty member's department or required by a licensing body; b) adaptation to changes in teaching methods or knowledge required; c) preparation for career enhancement within the College; d) acquisition of expertise in the areas of college governance or management. Professional development activities do not include the following: e) serving on departmental or College committees; f) assessing and admitting students to programs; g) performing necessary ongoing maintenance and updating of courses, programs and instructional resources.
