Protective Clothing And Footw ear. a) Subject to the eligibility requirements set out in c) below , employees w ho are required by the Employer to w ear protective footw ear shall receive an annual allow ance tow ards the purchase of such footw ear. Employees entitled to receive a footw ear allow ance shall receive an annual allow ance in the amount of $185 for employees required by the Employer to w ear “ green patch” footw ear and $130 for employees required to w ear safety footw ear of a low er “ patch” level. b) Notw ithstanding the above, “ Tree Climbers” w ill not receive a footw ear allow ance how ever, the appropriate protective footw ear w ill be supplied by the Employer. For purposes of clarification, this serves to confirm that “ green patch” footw ear refers to certified grade 1 footw ear that w ithstands 125 joules and has a puncture resistant steel plate sole as w ell as footw ear w ith a sole resistant to electric shock commonly referred to as footw ear w ith an omega sign. Safety footw ear of a low er “ patch” level refers to all other safety footw ear w ith a low er grade toe cap. It is recognized that there are circumstances (e.g., w ork related accidents, nature of w ork) w here consideration should be given for additional replacement other than mentioned above. Such requests must be made in w riting to the Employer.
