Regular Appointments. 4.8.1.1 Initial and subsequent probationary appointments shall be for not less than one (1) year nor more than three (3) years through the sixth (6th) year of service.
4.8.1.2 A tenured appointment shall be given upon completion of not more than seven (7) years of full-time service (see Article 4.4).
Regular Appointments. The duty year for faculty members with regular appointments shall consist of one hundred sixty-eight (168) duty days within the academic year. Resident faculty members at Metropolitan State University, the Association, and the President/designee may mutually agree to alternative duty day calendars of 168 duty days during an academic year. Duty days shall not be scheduled on New Years Day, Xxxxxx Xxxxxx Xxxx Day, Presidents Day*, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day*, Veterans Day*, Thanksgiving Day, the day after Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve Day, and Christmas Day. *The President may, after meeting and conferring with the Association, designate alternate non-duty days for the observance of these days for academic units when such revisions are in the best interests of the university.
Regular Appointments full-time or part-time.
Regular Appointments. Regular Faculty Members have successfully completed their Probationary appointments. Regular Faculty Members fulfill teaching and teaching-related duties or non-teaching duties, professional practice/research, and service to the University and to the community. Regular Faculty Members: • shall hold full-time or part-time appointments without term; • shall be either Teaching Faculty Members holding the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor; or • shall be Non-Teaching Faculty Members holding the positions of Writing Centre Coordinator, Librarian or Counsellor; • shall have a comprehensive performance review every three years, unless extended by approved leaves; • in the case of teaching faculty members, may make application through the promotion and tenure review process for advancement in rank; • may have their employment terminated through resignation, retirement, dismissal for just cause, or pursuant to the provisions of Articles 35 or 36.

Regular Appointments. 11.4.4.1 Normally the first appointment for a regular employee shall be for a two year probationary period unless 11.4.1.2 applies.
11.4.4.2 Having met the conditions set out in 11.4.2, the regular employee shall be on a continuous appointment according to 11.4.2.
11.4.4.3 Where the employee being offered his/her first regular appointment does not have complete credentials for the position, the appointment may specify that further appointments will be conditional upon completion of the credentials, even though s/he may have received a satisfactory evaluation.
11.4.4.3.1 Further conditional appointments, each normally being for one-year period, up to a maximum of four additional years following the expiry of the first conditional appointment, will normally be offered, assuming the employee can provide evidence that s/he has achieved reasonable progress towards the completion of the credentials.
11.4.4.3.2 If mitigating circumstances beyond the control of the employee make the completion of the credentials unattainable, subsequent offers of reappointment will not be withheld simply because the credentials remain incomplete. The determination of what constitutes reasonable progress towards completion of the credentials or what constitutes mitigating circumstances shall be made by the Vice-President, Education by April 1st of each year. Mitigating circumstances shall not include the straightforward failure of the employee to meet the standards of the accrediting institution or agency.
Regular Appointments. (a) All employees on regular appointments shall receive a day off with pay on the following holidays: New Year's Day Labour Day Good Friday Thanksgiving Day Easter Monday Remembrance Day Victoria Day Christmas Day Canada Day Boxing Day British Columbia Day Family Day and any other day proclaimed by the federal, provincial or municipal government as a holiday. When any of the above holidays fall on a normal non-working day and no other day is declared in substitution thereof, employees shall receive a day off in lieu of the holiday at their regular rate of pay. Employees required to work on any of the above holidays shall receive a regular days pay at one and one-half plus another day's pay or day off. Employees electing to take the day off are entitled to take a day off at a time of their choosing within the next four months, subject to operational requirements.
(b) Statutory holidays for regular part-time employees will be prorated based on actual hours worked in the preceding 28 day calendar period.
