Faculty Appointments. 5.4.1 On successful completion of the probationary period (unless 6.4 applies), a faculty employee shall be offered a faculty appointment. A faculty appointment means that the appointment shall be continued unless there are exceptional circumstances as specified in 8.4.1 or 6.4. 5.4.2 If a faculty appointee wishes to retire, he/she shall give four (4) months notice in writing to the President. Retirement shall normally occur at the end of a working year. This period of notice may be waived by mutual consent.

Faculty Appointments. Faculty Members shall be appointed as one of the following:
Faculty Appointments. A full-time contract year, except for Librarians, is the three (3) quarters of fall, winter and spring. Summer session appointments are by separate contracts. A full-time contract year for a librarian will be a minimum of nine (9) months, and may be as long as twelve (12) months. The contract year will be defined in writing at the time of hire, and may be changed through written agreement with the approval of the Library Faculty Personnel Committee, Xxxx of Libraries, and Chief Academic Officer.
Faculty Appointments. 11.3.1 Every effort will be made to have all new regular employees appointed by May 31st of the year preceding the beginning of the academic year; and non-regular employees by May 31st when appropriate to the needs of the University. 11.3.2 All candidates for employment are to be processed and dealt with in a similar manner. 11.3.3 The parties recognize and agree that only employment appointments of individuals can be made under this Agreement. Appointments cannot be offered to corporations, partnerships or proprietorships.
Faculty Appointments. As provided by statute and as defined in Section 7.1 of this Agreement, full-time faculty shall be offered a tenured or probationary faculty appointment. Also, a full-time faculty non-tenure-track employment contract may be issued pursuant to the terms described in Section 4.3 below. If applicable, a special faculty appointment as defined by RCW 28B.50.851(2)(b) shall be issued. Faculty in each of the categories of full-time appointments will be provided a written contract that will set forth the length of term of employment with the District, including whether the employment is tenured, probationary, special contract, or of specific duration as outlined in Section 4.3 below. The Eform or Contract may be used thereafter to give notice of changed terms of a continuous tenured or probationary appointment.

Faculty Appointments. The individuals who teach at and for Central Oregon Community College are classified as full-time tenured faculty members, full-time probationary faculty members, full-time temporary faculty members, adjunct instructors, and part-time instructors.
Faculty Appointments. 17.1 The rights, duties, and responsibilities of a Faculty Member shall include an appropriate and reasonable combination of some or all of: teaching, research and scholarship, and service and academic administration. 17.2 The Employer will reasonably support a variety of career paths for Faculty Members, balancing Members’ strengths and aspirations with the needs of the University. Each career path must leave open the possibility of promotion to the highest academic rank. Demonstrated excellence in teaching is valued equally with excellence in research and scholarship. 17.3 University Faculty appointments will fall into one of the following categories: a) Professor b) Associate Professor c) Assistant Professor d) Instructor
Faculty Appointments. (a) The ranks of appointment shall be Lecturer Assistant Professor Associate Professor Full Professor (b) An Appointments Committee shall normally consist of four full-time members of the Division in which the appointment is to be made, as selected by the Division. Normally, preference is given to members of the Division who are also members of the Department in which the appointment is to be made. All appointment committees are chaired by the Division Chair, who has no vote. Where deemed necessary by the Department and the Xxxx, one external advisor selected by the Division and the Xxxx shall sit on the Appointments Committee. In cases where the Department has two or fewer full-time faculty, the Appointment Committee shall be completed with Divisional representation. Costs incurred by external consultation will be borne by the University. (c) An Appointments Committee for a research chair shall include non-voting external advisors as follows: (i) Three external advisors to be proposed either by faculty or by administration with the division making the final decision about who will serve as external advisors. These advisors will represent the Chair’s areas of expertise and external funders if appropriate. (ii) The external advisors will provide objective counsel and recommendations to members of the Appointments Committee. (iii) External advisors will participate in setting hiring criteria, short-listing and interviewing of candidates. (iv) External advisors will participate in hiring only if available to attend all interviews. (v) Costs incurred by the external members shall be borne by the University. (vi) All other procedures outlined in the collective agreement will be followed. (d) The initiative in making recommendations for short listing of candidates rests with the department. In the event a department has no full-time faculty, the initiative for short-listing lies with the appropriate Divisional Members. A candidate for short-listing will not be considered without formal consultation with the Department. The Appointments Committee will rank candidates in order of preference and provide a shortlist of four candidates and a written rationale to justify the order of the ranking to the Xxxx, together with the full application of the candidates. The Xxxx may ask the Committee to reconsider its list, especially where s/he has concerns in relation to employment equity.
