REPLACEMENT OF PRESCRIPTION SAFETY EYEGLASSES. 242. This provision is designed to replace prescription safety glasses for those unit members who work under conditions that make the wearing of safety goggles or a protective mask impracticable. For unit employees who meet the above test, the District will reimburse the employee for prescription safety glasses that are damaged in the course of their work, provided that the employee has exercised reasonable care with respect to his/her glasses. The reimbursement shall be limited to that portion of the cost of replacement glasses which are comparable to those damaged and not otherwise covered by insurance, up to a total of $225. 243. To be eligible for reimbursement, the employee must apply for whatever insurance coverage may be available to him/her and meet all the other criteria set forth above.
