Replacement of safety equipment items. a. Safety equipment shall be considered for replacement at any time that such equipment does not meet the standards specified by the Department Head or his/her designee and/or when the normal life expectancy of individual items has been reached. The life expectancy of new items for purposes of this section is set forth in the following table: Flashlight Magazine Holder Rain Jacket Keeper straps Holster Long baton Gun Belt Glove Pouch Handcuff Case 5 years Chemical Agent Case Ballistic Vest b. The County shall inspect safety equipment. At the time of the inspection, the Department Head or his/her designee shall determine the condition of the item and, based upon its condition, shall specify either that such equipment be replaced or repaired.
