Resignation and Retirement. 15.4.1 A Lecturer wishing to resign should submit a letter of resignation to the University one hundred and twenty (120) days in advance through appropriate administrative channels, normally beginning with the department Chairperson or the equivalent. When considering the interruption or termination of service, the lecturer should recognize the effect of resignation upon the program of the institution and should give due notice of intentions. 15.4.2 It is expected that the timing of a resignation will coincide with the end of the academic year. The University recognizes that there are circumstances in which a change of employment will enhance a professional career and it will not hinder efforts to take advantage of such circumstances. The lecturer will receive counseling regarding various benefit programs associated with applicable retirement programs sponsored by the University to insure a smooth transition from active employment to retirement status during the one hundred and twenty (120) days.
