Response by Association Grievance Committee. Within fifteen (15) business days after its receipt of a grievance filed by an individual Officer or filed on behalf of the ASSOCIATION under this procedure, the Association Grievance Committee shall determine, in its sole discretion, if a valid grievance exists. If the Association Grievance Committee determines that the grievance is valid, the grievance shall proceed to Step 2 of this procedure. If the ASSOCIATION determines that the grievance is not valid, the ASSOCIATION President will notify the Chief that no further proceedings are necessary. Any grievance found to be valid by the Association Grievance Committee shall be submitted to the Chief of Police within fifteen (15) business days of the Step 1 ruling. Each grievance shall be submitted on a form agreed to by the parties and must include: (1) A brief statement of the grievance and the facts or events upon which it is based; (2) The Section(s) of the AGREEMENT alleged to have been violated; (3) The steps taken, if any, by the grievant to resolve the issue; and (4) A proposed resolution of the grievance.
