RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE UNIVERSITY. a. The University agrees to exercise reasonable care to safeguard the health, safety, and property of the Resident and will make a good faith effort to repair properly reported defects in residential facilities. The University shall not be liable for failure of water supply, electrical current, or heating/cooling systems; presence of insects or vermin; or the loss, damage, or injury to a resident or his or her guest or the property of the Resident or guest. In the event of utility or facility disruptions, housing fees will not be reimbursed. b. The University only provides liability for damages or injuries caused by negligence on the part of the University or its employees while working within the scope of their employment. THE UNIVERSITY IS NOT LIABLE FOR DAMAGE OR LOSS OF PERSONAL PROPERTY. STUDENTS ARE STRONGLY ENCOURAGED TO SECURE THEIR OWN PERSONAL PROPERTY LOSS INSURANCE.
