Common use of Retention / Transfer of Service and Seniority Clause in Contracts

Retention / Transfer of Service and Seniority. An employee’s full seniority and service shall be retained by the employee in the event that the employee is transferred from full-time to part-time or in the event the employee is transferred from casual to regular part-time or vice-versa. An employee whose status is changed from full-time to part time shall receive credit for her or his full seniority and service on the basis of 1500 hours worked for each year of full-time seniority or service. An employee whose status is changed from part-time to full-time shall receive credit for her or his full seniority and service on the basis of one year of seniority or service for each 1500 hours worked. Any time worked in excess of an equivalent shall be pro-rated at the time of transfer.
