Running Instances of the Server Software. For each software license you assign to the server, you may run any number of instances of the server software in one physical or virtual OSE on the licensed server at a time.

(a) Physical Cores on a Server. For each server to which you have assigned the required number of licenses as provided in Section 2.2(a), you may run on the licensed server any number of instances of the server software in the physical OSE.

For each server to which you have assigned the required number of software licenses, you may run, at any one time, any number of instances of the server software in physical and virtual operating system environments on the licensed server. However, the total number of physical and virtual processors used by those operating system environments cannot exceed the number of software licenses assigned to that server.

Running Instances of the Server Software. 2.2.1. Microsoft SQL Server 2016 Standard Edition (Runtime). For each software license you assign to the server, you may run any number of instances of the server software in one physical or virtual OSE on the licensed server at a time. You may assign more than one license to a server. For each additional license you assign, you may run any number of instances of the server software in one additional physical or virtual OSEs on the licensed server at any time.
2.2.2. Microsoft SQL Server 2016 Enterprise Edition (Runtime). Once you have assigned the license to the server, you may run any number of instances of the server software in up to four OSEs (physical and/or virtual) on the licensed server at a time, provided that:
2.2.2.1. if you are running the software in a physical OSE, the OSE may access up to 20 physical cores at any time, and
2.2.2.2. if you are running the software in one or more virtual OSEs, that group of OSEs may access up to 20 hardware threads at any time.
0.0.0.0. Xxx may assign more than one license to a server. For each additional license you assign, you may run any number of instances of the server software in up to four additional virtual OSEs on the licensed server at any time. That group of up to four OSEs may access up to 20 additional hardware threads at any time.
2.2.3. In any case, you are only entitled to a number of licensed servers not to exceed the number of server licenses displayed in the Registered Modules screen of CustomerSource for the active Unified Solution.
Running Instances of the Server Software. For each server to which you have assigned the required number of software licenses, you may run on the licensed server, at any one time:
(i) one instance of the server software in the physical operating system environment, and
(ii) any number of instances of the server software in virtual operating system environments (only one instance per virtual operating system environment). · However, the total number of physical processors used by those operating system environments cannot exceed twice the number of software licenses assigned to that server. · The software or your hardware may limit the number of instances of the server software that can run in physical or virtual operating system environments on the server.
Running Instances of the Server Software. For each virtual OSE which has been assigned the required number of licenses as provided in section 2.2, you have the right to run any number of instances of the software in that virtual OSE.
