The Engineer shall require its employees, and shall require its subcontractors to require their employees, to use hard hats, safety vests, traffic cones, vehicle safety lights, and "BRIDGE INSPECTION AHEAD” or “SURVEY CREW AHEAD" advance warning signs for all bridges being inspected. In the placement and maintenance of signs and other traffic control devices, the Engineer shall comply with the Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices. The Engineer shall minimize traffic flow disruption during inspection. The Engineer shall comply with BIRM, as it relates to safety and traffic control. Refer to BIRM, Sections 2.2 for discussion on safety fundamentals and 2.3 for discussion on temporary traffic control. The Engineer shall contact the State District Bridge Inspection Office for early coordination requirements when soliciting traffic control services.
