Common use of Seniority and Rating Credit Clause in Contracts

Seniority and Rating Credit. Applicants taking promotional examinations who receive a passing grade on the written test, shall receive credit for seniority, which shall be determined as follows: one per cent of the total grade attainable in such examination for each of the first four years of service, and six tenths per cent of such total grade for each of the next ten years of service. The total grade attainable shall be 100% (or a perfect score) exclusive of additional credits for seniority.
