Seniority Defined. For the purpose of this agreement: (a) Service seniority shall mean the length of continuous service as a regular employee in the Public Service of British Columbia and service with ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇, following the successorship effective handover date. Seniority Defined. For the purpose of this agreement:
(a) Service seniority 1. For purposes of continuous service as a permanent employee or their length of service as a continuous temporary employee with the Employer prior to that date. Service seniority for part-time employees employment of less than seventeen and one-half (17.5) hours per week shall be prorated counted at one-half (1/2) year seniority for each year.
3. If two or more bargaining unit members have the same seniority date, their placement on the basis of one year's service seniority for every 1827 hours completed.
(b) Classification seniority for a regular employee list shall be from that date upon which an employee is last appointed to their present classification with determined by a lottery drawing of the status names of a regular employee.
(c) Notwithstanding the provisions of (b) above, a regular employee who is demoted shall have time previously spent at the level to which they are demoted included in their classification seniority, other than in cases where an employee takes a voluntary demotion in accordance with Clauses 12.7 or 12.9 or is demoted through no fault of their own. (a) A regular employee on leave of absence without pay, other than leave of absence for an elected or appointed position in the Union, or leave granted under Article 21 - Maternity, Parental and Pre-Adoption Leave, or leave taken in accordance with Article 20.14 - Canadian Armed Forces and Coast Guard Auxiliary, shall not accrue seniority for leave periods over 30 calendar days.
(b) A regular employee on a claim recognized by the Workers' Compensation Board shall be credited with service seniority equivalent to what they would have earned had they not been absent and had been able to work.
(c) A regular employee who is on leave of absence without pay in an elected or appointed position of the Union shall continue to accrue seniority without benefits during the leave period, provided that, upon returning, the employee shall accept the first available position in their original classification at the work location nearest their residence.
(d) An employee shall lose their seniority as a regular employee in the event that: they are discharged for just cause; subject to Clause 11.4 - Re-Employment, they voluntarily terminate their employment or abandon their position; they are on layoff for more than one year; or except as provided in Clause 13.3(a)(4), they become an auxiliary employee. A regular employee who resigns their position and within 90 days is re-employed as a regular employee shall be granted leave of absence without pay covering those days absent and shall retain, effective the date of re-employment, all provisions and rights in relation to seniority and other fringe benefits, provided they have not withdrawn their superannuation contributions.

Regular employees in of the Public Service Freshwater Fisheries Society of British Columbia BC, as of June 30October 11, 19742003, shall be credited with service seniority equivalent to their length of continuous service as a permanent employee (including continuous service as a permanent employee with the Public Service of British Columbia) or their length of service as a continuous temporary employee with the Employer prior to that date. Service seniority for part-time employees shall be prorated on the basis of one year's service seniority for every 1827 hours completed.
