Common use of Seniority for Auxiliary Appointments Clause in Contracts

Seniority for Auxiliary Appointments. (a) Seniority for employees on auxiliary appointments shall be defined as the length of accumulated service with OC, subject to Clause 26.2(e) of this article, and shall operate on a bargaining unit wide basis. (b) Employees on auxiliary appointments shall be eligible to accumulate seniority upon the completion of 30 working days with OC. Upon the completion of the 30 working days, the seniority for such employees shall be backdated to cover the 30 working days. (c) Seniority for employees on auxiliary appointments shall be used for calculating receipt of increments based upon accumulated service, subject to Clause 26.2(e) of this article. In addition, seniority earned on auxiliary appointments will be recognized should employees be successful in obtaining a regular appointment. (d) OC will maintain seniority lists for employees on auxiliary appointments showing the date upon which the employees' service commenced and their service as at the last pay period of each month. Seniority lists will be sent within 15 days after the last day of each month to the Support Staff Bargaining Unit Chairperson who will be responsible for posting them on all bulletin boards. (e) Auxiliary employees lose their seniority in the event that: (1) they are discharged for just cause, (2) they voluntarily terminate or abandon employment with OC, (3) there is a break of more than five consecutive months between appointments, (4) they refuse three separate offers of employment for which they are qualified within a six-month period provided 23 hours notice of each offer is given and where the work offered is reasonably similar in content to that performed during previous auxiliary appointments, (5) exceptions may be made for valid reasons, i.e., medical, family emergency, etc. In the case of refusals, employees shall be provided with written notification of the refusal.

Seniority for Auxiliary Appointments. (a) Seniority for employees on auxiliary appointments shall be defined as the length of accumulated full-time equivalent service with OCas a member within the BCGEU bargaining unit at UBC Okanagan, subject to Clause 26.2(e) of this article, and shall operate on a bargaining unit wide basis26.2(d). (b) Employees on auxiliary appointments shall be eligible to accumulate seniority for internal applicant status upon the completion of 30 working days 210 worked hours with OCthe University. Upon the completion of the 30 working days210 worked hours, the seniority for such employees shall be backdated to cover the 30 working days210 worked hours. (c) Seniority for employees on auxiliary appointments shall be used for calculating receipt of increments based upon accumulated servicehours of seniority with BCGEU, subject to Clause 26.2(e26.2(a and e) of this articleclause. In addition, seniority earned on auxiliary appointments will be recognized should employees be successful in obtaining a regular appointment. (d) OC The University will maintain seniority lists for employees on auxiliary appointments showing the date upon which the employees' service commenced and their service seniority as at the last pay period of each month. In addition, seniority earned on auxiliary appointments will be recognized should employees be successful in obtaining a regular appointment. (d4) OC OUC will maintain seniority lists for employees on auxiliary appointments showing the date upon which the employees' service commenced and their service as at the last pay period working day of each month. Seniority lists will be sent within 15 days after the last day of each month to the Support Staff Bargaining Unit Chairperson who will be responsible for posting them on all bulletin boards. (e5) Auxiliary employees lose their seniority in the event that: (1i) they are discharged for just cause, (2ii) they voluntarily terminate or abandon employment with OCOUC, (3iii) there is a break of more than five consecutive months between appointments, , 26.02 (45) (iv) they refuse three separate offers of employment for which they are qualified within a six-month period provided 23 hours notice of each offer is given and where the work offered is reasonably similar in content to that performed during previous auxiliary appointments, (5) exceptions may be made for valid reasons, i.e., medical, family emergency, etc. In the case of refusals, employees shall be provided with written notification of the refusal.
