Common use of SEPARATION FROM CITY Clause in Contracts

SEPARATION FROM CITY. Upon either separation from the City of Costa Mesa, with a minimum of 20 years of continuous honorable service; or eligibility for retirement benefits, (as defined in the benefit Plan applied for) the employee shall have the option of: a. Being paid at his/her current hourly base rate for one-half of the sick leave in his/her Primary Sick Leave Bank. There shall be no cash payment for sick leave in the Secondary Sick Leave Bank, or b. Alternatively, the employee can choose to apply all credited time in both his or her Primary and Secondary Sick Leave Banks toward service credit. In addition, if this alternative is selected, then the payoff indicated in 19.4a above becomes a survivor benefit, to be paid to his/her designated beneficiary.
