Short-Term Professional Leave. (This program is suspended for the duration 42 of this contract.) 44 Upon recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, the District may 45 approve short-term professional leave. Such leave may be granted for study, 46 cooperative research with other institutions and/or business, and/or other 1 reasons which would be beneficial to the District. The following guidelines 2 must be observed: 4 a. Short-term professional leave will be granted for a maximum term of one 5 (1) semester or its equivalent. 6 7 b. During the term of the leave the certified staff member will be compensated 8 at the rate of two-thirds (2/3) their regular rate of pay. 9 10 c. During the term of the leave the certified staff member will continue to be 11 considered actively employed by the District and will be provided with all 12 employment benefits. 14 d. A certified staff member granted short-term professional leave will be 15 obligated to continue their employment with the District for a period of no 16 less than one (1) school year following the school year of the leave, or the 17 certified staff member will refund all costs incurred by the District during 18 the term of the leave.
