Common use of Site Safety Clause in Contracts

Site Safety. All work performed under this contract shall be in accordance with the regulations of the United States Occupational Health and Safety Agency (OSHA). It is the Contractor’s responsibility to contact Dig-safe prior to beginning any excavation. Contractor shall be responsible for initiating, maintaining and supervising all safety precautions and programs in connection with the Project. The Contractor shall take all reasonable precautions for the safety of, and shall provide all reasonable protection to prevent damage, injury or loss to: • all employees or agents of the Contractor and the State, on the Project and all other persons who may be affected thereby; • all the Project materials and equipment to be incorporated therein, whether in storage on or off-the site, under the care; custody or control of the Contractor or any of their Subcontractors or Sub-subcontractors. The Contractor shall erect and maintain, as required by existing conditions and progress of the Project, all reasonable safeguards for safety and protection, including posting danger signs, and other warnings against hazards, promulgating safety regulations and notifying owners and users of adjacent utilities. In any emergency affecting the safety of persons or property, the Contractor shall act to prevent threatened damage, injury or loss. Any additional compensation or extension of time claimed by the Contractor on account of emergency work shall be determined as necessary. All supplies, equipment and machines will be kept free of public traffic lanes or other areas that may be a hazard to the public or employees of the State.
