Common use of SPECIAL TIME OFF Clause in Contracts

SPECIAL TIME OFF. 9.1 Additional Time Off at Christmas and New Year's Holidays When Christmas falls on Friday and Boxing Day on Saturday, an additional half holiday will be granted employees on the preceding Thursday. When Christmas falls on Saturday and Boxing Day on Monday, an additional half holiday will be granted employees on the preceding Friday. When Christmas falls on Wednesday, the Friday following Boxing Day shall be granted as an additional holiday. When New Year's Day falls on a Saturday, an additional holiday shall be granted on either the preceding Friday or the following Monday. Those regular part-time employees whose regular scheduled day of work falls on the holidays referenced above shall be granted the time off and compensated at a rate equal to their normal daily earnings. 9.2 Payment for Time in 9.1 Eligible employees required to work during the days in 9.1 shall be paid as follows: 1. If employees are normally scheduled to work and are required to work on such a day, they shall be paid straight time for such work within normal scheduled hours and given equivalent time off with pay, up to a maximum of normal scheduled hours, within the following six months. 2. If employees are not normally scheduled to work on such a day and are required to work, they shall be paid at the rate normally paid for overtime work. 3. Eligible shift employees on a seven-day coverage basis whose normal scheduled day off falls at such designated time, shall be allowed equivalent time off with pay, within the following six months.
