Common use of Specialist Teachers Clause in Contracts

Specialist Teachers. 9.01 Specialist instruction will be provided at all grade levels (K-12), which may include but not be limited to the areas of music, art and physical education. Time allocations provided in required special areas shall meet or exceed state standards. 9.02 A minimum of two hundred (200) minutes per week of specialist instruction by certified/licensed specialist teachers shall be provided to students in the areas of music, art, and physical education at grade levels K through 4. When the classes are under the instruction of a specialist teacher, the classroom teacher shall be scheduled for planning, preparation and conference time. For purposes of these time allotments set forth above, A.M. Kindergarten shall receive a maximum of one-hundred (100) minutes per week and P.M. Kindergarten shall receive a maximum of one hundred (100) minutes per week. A. In addition to the above, the following additional specialist time will be provided at the elementary K through 4 levels for library or other non-required specialist time: 1. Kindergarten: thirty (30) minutes every other week. 2. Grades 1-4: thirty (30) minutes per week. B. These above-stated minimum specialist times apply to the appropriate grade level at the High Tech Academy (grades 2-4), with the exception that the two hundred (200) minute per week requirement need not be limited to music, art, and physical education for those students.
