Steel Reinforcement. (a) The Units of measurement shall be:
(i) Steel rod reinforcement kilogramme (kg)
(ii) Steel fabric reinforcement square metres
(iii) Steel dowels of stated diameter and length number
(b) Method of measurement: The weight of steel rod reinforcement shall be calculated on the basis that steel weighs 7,850 kgs per cubic metre. The steel rod reinforcement shall be measured as the net theoretical calculated weight of the steel actually used in the work (including laps as specified) in accordance with the bending schedules prepared by the Engineer with no allowance being made in the measurement thereof for rolling margin or otherwise. Tying wire shall not be measured. Fabric reinforcement shall be measured as the area of work covered, the weight per square metre being stated.
(c) Item coverage: No separate payment will be made beyond the rates for steel reinforcement for:
(i) Supplying, cutting to length, cleaning, bending, hooking, waste incurred by cutting, handling;
(ii) Placing and fixing in the required position, including binding wire or other approved material;
(iii) Placing supports and spacers;
(iv) Extra fabric reinforcement in laps;
(v) In the case of dowels - drilling holes or forming pockets in the structure and casting dowels into their final position.
Steel Reinforcement. High yield strength deformed bar TMT (HYSD TMT) having minimum strength of 415 N/ mm2 up to and including 25 mm diameter and 500 N/mm2 for bigger diameter confirming to IS: 1786 shall be used as reinforcement for RCC works. Binding wire shall be conforming to IS: 432. All steel shall be sound and free from cracks surface flaws laminations, rough and imperfect edges and all other defects. The variation in weight per meter length of the bars shall be permitted only up to the following limits: · 6 mm & 8mm +7% · 10 mm & 12 mm +4% · 16 mm & above +3% Spacer blocks shall be made conforming to M15 concrete tied with binding wires as specified or PVC spacer shall be used prior approval of Independent Engineer.
Steel Reinforcement. 10.3.1 The contractor shall procure Thermo Mechanical Treated (TMT) Steel Reinforcement bars of Fe 500D from Primary producers such as SAIL, Tata Steel Ltd., RINL, Xxxxxx Steel and Power Ltd. & JSW Steel Ltd. Or their authorised dealers or any other producer as approved by the CPWD who are using iron ore as the basic raw material / input and having Crude Steel Capacity of 2.00 million tons per annum and above. In case of non-availability of steel from primary producer the NIT approving authority may permit use of TMT reinforcement bars procured from steel producers having Integrated Steel Plants (ISPs) using iron ore as the basic raw material for production of crude steel which is further rolled into finished shapes in-house having crude steel capacity of 0.50 million tons annum and more. A separate list of producers for this category shall be approved by the ADG concerned for their sub region under intimation to directorate CPWD/ CE, CSQ. In case of non–availability of steel from Primary producers as well as ISPs then the NIT approving authority may also permit use of TMT reinforcement bars procured from secondary producers. In such cases following conditions are to be stipulated in the NIT by NIT approving authority. The agency/contractor procures TMT reinforcement bars produced from approved secondary producers the following conditions, should be satisfied and payment shall be made as stipulated under para 10.3.10:
a) The grade of the steel shall be Fe 500 D as per BIS 1786-2008.
b) The secondary producers have valid BIS licence to produce TMT steel bars conforming to IS 1786: 2008. In additional to BIS licence, the secondary producer must have valid licence from either of the firms Tempcore, Thermax, Evcon Turbo & Turbo Quench to produce TMT bars.
c) The TMT bars procured from primary producers shall conform to manufacture’s specifications.
d) The TMT bars procured from secondary producers shall conform to the specifications as laid by Tempcore, Thermax, Evcon Turbo & Turbo Quench as the case may be.
e) TMT bars procured either from primary producers or secondary producers, the specifications shall meet the following provisions of IS 1786: 2008 pertaining to Fe500D grade of steel:
Steel Reinforcement. 3.1 Fabrication of mild steel reinforcement for cement concrete, including cutting, bending, laying in position, making joints and fastenings, including cost of binding wire and labour charges for binding of steel reinforcement (also includes removal of rust from bars).
Steel Reinforcement. A. Reinforcing Bars: ASTM A615/A615M, Grade 60, deformed.
B. Headed-Steel Reinforcing Bars: ASTM A970/A970M.
C. Deformed-Steel Welded-Wire Reinforcement: ASTM A1064/A1064M, flat sheet.
Steel Reinforcement. A. General: Comply with XXXX's "Manual of Standard Practice" for placing reinforcement.
1. Do not cut or puncture vapor retarder. Repair damage and reseal vapor retarder before placing concrete.
B. Clean reinforcement of loose rust and mill scale, earth, ice, and other foreign materials that would reduce bond to concrete.
C. Accurately position, support, and secure reinforcement against displacement. Locate and support reinforcement with bar supports to maintain minimum concrete cover. Do not tack weld crossing reinforcing bars.
D. Set wire ties with ends directed into concrete, not toward exposed concrete surfaces.
E. Install welded wire reinforcement in longest practicable lengths on bar supports spaced to minimize sagging. Lap edges and ends of adjoining sheets at least one mesh spacing. Offset laps of adjoining sheet widths to prevent continuous laps in either direction. Lace overlaps with wire.
Steel Reinforcement a. For reinforcement to be welded, mill test analysis for chemical composition and carbon equivalent of the steel in accordance with ASTM A706/A706M.
