Common use of Substandard Performance Clause in Contracts

Substandard Performance. An employee’s substandard performance may result in the imposition of discipline ranging from an oral reprimand to termination of employment or non-renewal of contract. In most instances, discipline imposed for the reason of substandard performance will follow a progressive format and will be accompanied by a measurable plan of improvement. The plan of improvement will be collaboratively developed, but the final decision on the plan rests with the designated administrator. This administrator will also provide guidance, help, and encouragement to improve. The employee will be given reasonable time for correction of the employee’s deficiency.
